The Screen Than Never Forgets

Gone are the days when things stayed hidden for long. Today, because of social media, the moment something happens, it can travel across the world within seconds. News spreads fast, videos spread fast, and sometimes even people's private pain becomes public entertainment before they even have the chance to breathe.

Social media is powerful. It has helped people connect, learn, grow businesses, create awareness, and support one another in difficult times. It has given many people a voice. But like every powerful tool, it must be used with wisdom, caution, and humanity.

Sometimes, in the rush to post first, trend, gain attention, or create content, we forget that the people in those videos, pictures, and stories are real human beings with emotions. One embarrassing moment, one false story, one leaked video, or one insensitive comment can destroy someone emotionally. Some people carry that pain for years, while others never recover from it.

The frightening thing about the internet is that the screen rarely forgets. Even after apologies are made, even after people heal, even after tears dry, the videos, screenshots, comments, and cruel words can remain forever—waiting to resurface again and again.

I have heard heartbreaking stories of people falling into depression, isolating themselves from the world, and even committing suicide because of the humiliation and pressure caused by things spread on social media. Words posted casually online can leave wounds deeper than we imagine.

Not everything should be recorded. Not everything should be shared. Not everything should become content. Sometimes humanity matters more than views, likes, and trends.

Before posting, commenting, laughing, or forwarding something online, let us ask ourselves one simple question: “What if this were me?”

Behind every trending story is a human being trying to survive a difficult moment. Behind every viral video is a heart that can break.

The world already carries enough pain. Let us use social media to heal, encourage, protect, and uplift one another instead of destroying lives for temporary entertainment.

Because the truth is this: The screen may never forget… but we can still choose to be kind.
