A life Well Faked

She came from a good home, one of warmth, quiet discipline, and gentle faith. Her parents were educated, modest, and deeply rooted in their Christian values. They raised her with love, prayer, and the hope that she would walk confidently in the light they had shown her.

But sometimes, even the brightest homes have shadows, standing just outside the door.

She found friends who lived differently, louder, looser, and faster. They seemed free in ways she did not feel. Their clothes were flashier, their phones were newer, their weekends were exciting, and their pockets always had money. And little by little, she wanted that life too.

At first, it was small things. Borrowing clothes. Sneaking out. Pretending to have what she didn't. But pretending only satisfied her for a moment, and she wanted more — more than what her parents could give, more than what she was taught to appreciate.

Then came the men. Older boys. Sweet talk, quick promises, and easy money. She told herself it was harmless. Just a phase. Just a way to “fit in.” But faking a life quickly became living it.

Soon, the consequences knocked, loud and unforgiving.

A missed period. A quiet panic. A growing truth she could no longer hide. And before she knew it, school slipped out of her hands, and so did the future she once took for granted.

Her parents cried, not because they were ashamed, but because they had hoped life would be kinder to her than this. She cried too. For the choices she made. For the pressure she felt and for the life she tried to fake until it became real.

But even in her lowest moment, something in her shifted. Maybe it was the child she now carried. Maybe it was the memory of her parents' gentle prayers. Maybe it was the realisation that the life she envied was never worth losing herself for.

A life well faked always collapses.

But a life rebuilt—brick by brick, truth by truth—can still become something beautiful.
